How to Setup My Page

Overview

Your page at Commerity.com can be as simple or as intricate as you like. In this guide we show you how to set up a basic page to get you started. The guide walks you through the following steps:

Add a Profile Photo – a picture is worth a thousand words and a profile photo is your first impression on Commerity.com. We’ll show you how to add a Profile Photo with just a few clicks.
Create a Profile Description – a small write-up about you and your offerings is a good way to connect with those who want to know more about you. We’ll show you how to add and position a Profile Description on your page.
Upload Photos – to complete the basic page we add some photos to show you how it’s done. You can upload photos of your business, your products, and your happy customers to keep your page interesting with very little effort.

We go through each of these steps in more detail below.

Pre-requisites

You need to sign up for Commerity.com membership before you can do the steps outlined in this guide. Check out our How To Sign Up guide if you are not already a member. It is free to join.

Add a Profile Photo

Click on the My Page link in the main menu to access your Page at Commerity.com. If you have not made any changes to your Page since sign up, it will look similar to the page below.

Your first step is to add a Profile Photo to your page. Click on the “Add Photo” caption on the default Profile Photo shown above. This will take you to the My Settings page as shown below.

In the Photo section of the My Settings page, click on the Browse button as shown above. You can then browse your computer files and select the photo you want to use as your Profile Photo. Once you have selected your photo, the file name of the photo file should appear in the text box next to the Browse button as shown above.

Once you have selected the photo, click on the Save button to upload your new Profile Photo.

Note: We recommend Firefox browser for Commerity.com. If you encounter any problems following these steps using Microsoft Explorer please try Firefox instead.

Once you Save your changes go back to your My Page and you will see your Profile Photo has been updated with your selected photo, as shown above.

Create a Profile Description

Your next step is to create a Profile Description to let visitors know about your business and market offerings. A text box is provided on your Page for this purpose.

Click on the Add Text link in the text box to start editing.

As shown above:

Enter a title for your text box. We have titled ours as “Your Ultimate Home”.
Enter a brief description of your business, market offerings and contact details.
Click Save to commit your changes.

The text box can also include pictures, videos and even have files attached. We will only use text for now to keep the guide focused on a basic Page.

After saving our Profile Description it should appear as shown below.

As noted in the image above, we want to move the image to the top of the page, above the Gifts Received box. We can move the text box by clicking on the title and holding down mouse button while we drag the text box to the top of the page.

Note: We encountered problems with Microsoft Explorer when we tried to move the text box. We recommend Firefox browser for Commerity.com.

Once we move the text box our page should appear as shown below.

Upload Photos

Your My Page also includes a My Photos box where you can add photos of your products, projects, recent events or other photos relevant to your business.

Scroll down to the My Photos box and click on the Add Photos link as shown below.

The Add Photos page is displayed. Click on the camera image in the middle of the page to select photos you want to upload from your computer.

Select the desired photos and click the Open button as shown above to confirm your selection.

Click on the Upload button (shown above) to add the selected photos. Once the photos are uploaded you can add details about each photo as you wish.

Click on the My Page link in the main menu to check how the photos appear in the My Photos box. As shown below, the photos appear as a slideshow.

You can change the display type to show thumbnails for each photo instead of cycling them in a slideshow. Click on the Edit button and select Thumbnails from the Display list box as shown below.

The photos now appear as a series of thumbnails as shown below.

Let’s move the My Photos box up to a higher spot in the My Page layout. Once again, we simply click and hold on the box title and drag the box up to the desired position.

As shown below, we have moved the My Photos box to a position below the Profile Description text box that we prepared earlier.

This concludes the setup of our basic My Page. As we have seen, it’s easy to add a Profile Photo, Profile Description and upload Photos with Commerity.com. Keeping the information current is as easy as editing the text box and uploading more photos.
